Pet Insurance Claim of the Week: Colonic Volvulus

Lexie is a German Shepherd Dog who recently underwent surgery to for colonic volvulus.

Colonic volvulus is the twisting in the gastrointestinal tract of the colon and/or intestines, and is very similar to Gastric Volvulus (Bloat) in dogs. Like bloat, it can occur when the dog eats or drinks large quantities in a short amount of time.

Symptoms include vomiting or attempting to vomit, and it can be diagnosed via X-rays. Fortunately, Lexie received the proper treatment and had pet insurance to pay for the costs.
