They grow so fast. Sniff.
Last night at agility, Fiona did the full-size dog walk without hesitation. It may not sound like a big deal, but for Fiona it was. For months she’s been frightened and would promptly turn around and run off the “on” ramp. But not last night. I was so proud of my big girl.
The whole thing got me thinking…and remembering.
How my fiancé and I flew from New Jersey to Iowa to pick up Miss Fiona.
How – even that first night in the hotel room – she was so self-assured, confident…and so sweet.
How I hid her under my jacket on the airplane ride home – and how good she was the whole time.
How quickly she took to her brothers, Finnegan and Moonie. She dispensed kisses instantly.
How little she was – I could scoop her up with just one hand.
Fiona is now 1-1/2 years old and she grows more affectionate by the day. She’s tall for a Kerry Blue girl and weighs a healthy 34 lbs. You almost forget that she was a tiny puppy once.
That is, until she runs up and mouths your forearm.
