Twinkie Twinkie Little Star

This guest blog post is brought to you by Twinkie the Teacup Chihuahua!

I love children’s songs and fairy tales, don’t you? When we grow up, we’re told not to believe in fairy tales, but in my case, I can’t help but disagree. I am living proof that fairytales can and do come true and I am here to remind you that anything is possible.

Four years ago, I was a two pound, teacup chihuahua, suffering from pneumonia. I also had a bum leg, I still do, that the doctors couldn’t put together properly. So, I’m now three legged, so what? Also, because of my ongoing pneumonia and various medications, my digestive system was trashed. I didn’t even like the smell of food!

I looked like THIS.

Flash forward to today. I have been adopted into the most loving and nurturing forever home. My mom’s heart purrs at the sight of abused animals and she’s dedicated part of her life to rescues. I was her most challenging case. When she adopted me, the vets sadly shook their heads and told her they expected me to be nearing the rainbow bridge trip. She ignored them all. Tender, loving care, tons of meds, several visits to the emergency pet hospital and ta-da, world watch out for Twinkie, the tiny chihuahua! I went from being a ghetto dog roaming the streets of downtown LA, to a strong four pound terror. I’m full of energy and love my life. I love to eat, hike, play, fence fight, but most of all I love my family.

Not only that, but I’m now a blog star and a book heroine. My mom is a writer and she loves to help me with my blog. We even wrote a book together: Twinkie, The Tiniest Dog in the World. It is a children’s read along photo story book. It is a modern day fairy tale about a rescue dog, me.

Today, I look like THAT

I am Twinkie, the little star.

    My Sweet Twink,
You are such a special healing, loving, funny dog and I watch you daily. Because of you, I can’t wait until I can get my rescue Chihuahua who I hope will be as wonderful, sweet and cute as you. I’m just getting better from a long illness and I’m making my new baby a rescue dog, so I can take him or her with me where ever I go. I’ve always loved Chihuahuas but I couldn’t get one because I worked at a demanding job and wasn’t home much. Now that I’ve had to take early retirement from a long State career due to my health, I have all the time in the world to spend with my new baby. Thank you Twink, you are an inspiration to me and have given me so much joy. I love you very much and thank M for taking such good care of you and all your family and other rescues.
    Keep on Hopping,
    Love ya,
    Nancy

OMD Nancy McGovern! You moved me! I am actually almost speechless, which doesn’t happen often. I wish you good health to enjoy your early retirement. I also hope you find the chi of your dreams. It’s going to be a rescue, you say. Wow. Another rescuer out there. I think I might stick around for people like you. I hope you read this someday. I want you to know that M and I sincerely thank you.
    Twink!
