Colonic disease, also related to inflammatory bowel disease is a digestive disease that causes problems in the large bowel. In this chronic disease, the stomach and intestine are penetrated by inflammatory cells causing diarrhea and vomiting. The cause of this disease is not currently known, however it is believed to be caused by inheritance, diet, and abnormalities within the immune system. Diarrhea and vomiting are the most common signs of inflammatory bowel disease, however some other symptoms include the loss of appetite, depression, fever, severe weight loss, blood or mucous in stool, and increase of defecation but small amounts of stool each time. Treatment includes diet changes and medications. There is no current cure for this condition, however it can be controlled.
