Color dilution is a genetic condition that causes hair follicle and skin pigmentation abnormalities. This color dilution is caused by melanin storing and processing irregularities in the body and it can cause problems such as hair loss, recurring skin infections, and the problem may spread to the entire body . This condition typically occurs between the ages of six months and two years and is most often seen with Italian Greyhound dog breeds. If you notice any of these symptoms or skin irregularities, have your veterinarian check out your pet. Medication treatments are available to treat hair loss.
