With a community of over 20,000 pet lovers, Trupanion is the most-liked pet insurance company on Facebook.
(Vocus) October 25, 2010 —Trupanion, North America’s fastest growing pet insurance company, is pleased to claim the distinction of the most-liked pet insurance company on the popular social networking site Facebook.
With 20,447 followers at press date, Trupanion is well ahead of any other pet insurance company on Facebook. Trupanion credits this achievement to the interaction the company has with their pet community.
“Two-way communication is the key to our success,” said Darren DeFeo, Senior Vice President of E-Commerce at Trupanion. “We make a point not only to give pet lovers a place to interact, but to participate ourselves in conversations as well.”
Trupanion uses its Facebook page to educate pet owners about important pet news updates and stories, and pet insurance and pet health information, by posting news links and links to its own blog. The company also offers information about giveaways and contests, and job opportunities.
“We created our page to give pet lovers a place to interact and share pictures and stories about their pets,” said Stacy Kowalchuk, Social Channels Manager at Trupanion. “Now, over 1,500 photos have been uploaded to the page by the community we have created.”
Policyholders can also write reviews, positive or negative, directly on the site. But the page is not limited to Trupanion policyholders.
“Anyone can join our community, learn about pet insurance, and then decide for themselves if it is right for them,” said DeFeo. “We aim to educate and have fun with our fellow pet enthusiasts, not pressure them.”
