Pet Insurance Claim of the Week: Swallowed a Cloth

Athena is a mischievous young Saint Bernard who got into some trouble this past week. She swallowed a cloth that had to be surgically removed from her intestine! Athena was experiencing some gastrointestinal problems, so her owner took her into the vet where she had X-rays taken. They noticed a blockage, so she was taken into surgery.

According to the vet’s notes, the obstruction was removed without complications. She should be just fine, though she has to wear an e-collar until the sutures are removed.

Pet insurance claim amount: $3,424.70
Deductible applied: -$0.00
Exam fee: -$195.00
Unrelated charges (spay): $121.00
10% co-pay: -$310.87
Trupanion repaid: $2,797.83

If you’ve got a pet that likes to eat inedible objects, then it’s a good idea to consider pet insurance!
