The winner of Trupanion’s latest promotion received $500 to give to the charity of her choice – the Animal Defense League of Texas.
(PRWeb.com) January 10, 2010 — In December, pet insurance company Trupanion hosted a holiday promotion asking pet owners to share their interpretation of a ‘Tru Hero’. The grand prize winner received $500 to give to a charity of their choice. The chosen charity was the Animal Defense League of Texas.
Contest winner Lisa Dennison won the hearts of many with her story about her cat Lucky. Lucky was an outdoor cat that was hit by a car and taken to the vet. After removing an eye, amputating his tail and treating him for fleas, the vet put him up for adoption. Despite his disability and disfigurement, Dennison adopted him and they have been a happy family ever since.
Dennison chose the Animal Defense League of Texas as the recipient of the donation because it is the organization that treated and hospitalized Lucky. The Animal Defense League is a non-profit organization based in San Antonio, Texas, and is a true no-kill shelter for abandoned, abused, or neglected dogs and cats.
“The holidays are a great time of year to recognize the hero in pets and pet owners,” said Stacy Kowalchuk, Social Channels Manager at Trupanion and the person who ran the promotion. “We were delightfully overwhelmed with the response and are pleased that the money is going toward such a great cause.”
