Wobbler’s Syndrome and Your Dog or Cat – Trupanion

Jackson the Great Dane has unfortunately been experiencing the effects of Wobbler’s syndrome. This condition, also known as cervical vertebral instability, is when the spinal cord becomes compressed which prevents normal function of the spinal cord signals. An affected pet will experience muscle weakening, trouble standing (or wobbling), and neck pain. Treatment typically includes surgery at the affected location and physical therapy is highly recommended.
