Pet Insurance Claim of the Week: Femoral Fracture

Demi is a Dachshund Jack Russell Terrier mixed breed dog who recently fell from a balcony and fractured several bones in her leg. When a pet gets a broken leg, some signs are that the leg appears to be misshapen or out of place, the pet refuses to put weight on the limb or move it, and it may also appear swollen, bruised, or bleeding. If your pet has experienced trauma, veterinary care should be sought immediately.

The poor girl needed surgery on the affected areas, but she should be just fine. The following claim is for X-rays, IV fluids, anesthesia, surgery, and medications.

Total claim amount: $5,612.78
Deductible applied: -$0.00
Exam fees: -$165.00
10% co-insurance: -$544.78
Trupanion repaid: $4,903.00

Broken bones can happen to any pet at any time. It is very fortunate that Demi was insured so that her owner could get her immediate veterinary care without having to worry about the cost.
