Pet Insurance Claim of the Week: Torn Cruciate Ligament
|Chewy the English Bulldog recently had an accident in which both of his cruciate ligaments were torn. He is a young dog, at almost two years old, but apparently likes to play hard based on his injuries!
Chewy’s hind limbs became lame and continued to get worse to the point that they were very painful and he could not sit at a full squat. Chewy’s owners were interested in a TPLO surgery and sent in a pre-approval form to Trupanion to ensure that they would receive coverage. After receiving approval, they went ahead with the TPLO surgery. TPLO is a surgery in which the bones are restructured to stabilize the joint.
Total claim amount: $6,242.89
Deductible applied: -$0.00
Exam fees: -$0.00
10% co-insurance: -$624.29
Trupanion repaid: $5,618.60
TWO torn cruciate ligaments at the same time?! Poor Chewy! Glad he is got the surgery he needed and hope he is on his way to a full recovery. 🙂
