Trupanion Named One of Best Companies with Work-Life Balance

Pet insurance company Trupanion encourages the bond between employees and their pets, and for that reason were named as a top company that supports work-life balance.

(PR.com) May 9, 2011 — In a recent Huffington Post article, Trupanion, the nation’s fastest-growing pet insurance provider, was named one of nine companies across the nation that support a healthy work-life balance for their employees. Other companies on the list included Google, Netflix, and Zappos.

While still important, the article acknowledges that many job-seekers today are looking beyond salary, location and advancement opportunities when determining if a company is right for them. They also look at how their life outside the office will be affected once joining a specific team.

Trupanion was chosen based on their support of the bond employees have with their pets. A few months ago, The Seattle Times named Trupanion Seattle’s ‘Most Pet-Friendly Company’ and the company with the ‘Most Unusual Perk’.

Approximately 25% of Trupanion employees bring a pet to work, including a few who choose to bring their pet cats. Pets are gated inside cubicles with their owners and enjoy comfy beds and blankets, food and drink bowls, toys, and treats within their space. Trupanion has developed a pet policy to ensure all pets brought into the office are happy and healthy members of the team.

“Dogs of all breeds can be found hanging out with their owners, underneath or sometimes on top of desks,” said Darren DeFeo, Senior Vice President of E-Commerce at Trupanion.  “The energy and comfort they bring to the employees is unmatched and makes everyone even more dedicated to our mission.”

Employees are also offered free pet insurance for a pet dog or cat with a $0 deductible, earning the distinction of ‘Most Unusual Perk’ from The Seattle Times.
