Best Movies Involving Pets

There are literally thousands of movies that feature dogs and cats, from children’s movies to foreign films, to box office smashes. Some are comical, some are dramatic, and others are downright sob-worthy. But which ones stand out from all the rest?

Obviously, the topic of movies is a subjective one. But I thought it would be fun to share my favorite movies involving pets and then hear from you what I might have missed.

So here are my favorites, in no particular order:

Turner and Hooch

Turner and Hooch

I find myself quoting this movie to my own dogs when I’m frustrated. “No barking, no growling, no slobbering. This is not your room!”

Hotel for Dogs

Hotel for Dogs

I was so surprised by this movie, as I didn’t have high expectations. But I loved it and immediately wanted to open my own hotel for dogs!

Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound Movie

I found this to be the best adventure story of my childhood! And the happy ending, while expected, always made me tear up.

Lady and the Tramp

Lady and the Tramp

I just love how Lady calls her owners by their pet names for each other – Jim Dear and Darling. Always makes me wonder what my own dogs think my name is.

Shrek

Puss in Boots

Okay, while not technically a movie about cats and dogs, Puss in Boots is one of my favorite animated characters of all time!

Okay, now it’s your turn. What are your favorite movies involving pets?
