Pet Insurance Claim of the Week: Fell off chair

Miniature dachshunds, while cute and unique with their long hot-dog-like appearance, actually have quite fragile backs. Eddie the 5-year-old mini dachshund is no exception. Eddie recently fell off a chair and injured disks in his back, causing intervertebral disc disease.

Eddie was taken to the emergency veterinarian where he had radiographs taken. He needed surgery and follow-up CT scanning.

Total claim amount: $7,262.06
Deductible applied: -$250.00
Exam fees: -$244.25
10% co-insurance: -$676.78
Trupanion repaid: $6,091.03

Eddie is a good reminder of how fragile smaller dogs can be as well as the importance of having pet insurance.
