Pet Insurance Claim of the Week: Thrombocytopenia

Cupid is a 12-year-old Lhasa Apso with many recent medical complications. She needed treatment for thrombocytopenia which is an occurrence of abnormally low platelet counts in the blood. It is unclear from the records as to what caused this condition. Because of this, Cupid experienced hemorrhaging in her gastrointestinal tract and bladder and needed a blood transfusion.

Her treatments at the veterinarian included immune globulin infusions as well as infusions of various electrolytes as well as daily monitoring and tests. She spent 8 days in the hospital receiving care. We are wishing Cupid a speedy recovery and many more years.
