Pet Insurance Claim of the Week: Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Benny a 10-month-old Havanese who was recently diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. This condition is most commonly caused by either Crohn’s disease, which affects any part of the gastrointestinal tract, or ulcerative colitis, which occurs around the colon. Symptoms of IBD include vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and abdominal pain.

Benny received a colonoscopy and endoscopy during his 5-day stay in the veterinary clinic. Medications were used to reduce the inflammation and treat other symptoms and he was sent home with a whole handful of prescription medications. Benny should be just fine and his owner is thankful for pet insurance!
