Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month

April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month and while I believe we should work toward this goal each and every day, it’s nice to have a month dedicated to the cause to bring it to the forefront of everyone’s minds.

I was forwarded a story from a friend that offers a look into what we are fighting against. Kona, a Golden Retriever living in the Seattle area, was severely abused by a neighbor who was angry at him for barking. The poor boy suffered a fractured skull among other wounds and required extensive surgery and treatment. I’m happy to report that after a fundraiser in his honor, Kona received all the treatment he needed and is in recovery.

If you can (I know it’s an emotional story and may be hard to hear) take a look at the orignal video that aired on Q13 Fox TV (click to watch):

Kona the Golden Retriever

The follow up video on Kona’s recovery can be seen here.

No animal should go through the pain this dog went through. It’s horrendous to believe there are people out there who could do such attrocious things to animals, but the truth is, there are. And the most heart-wrenching part? Kona’s tail was wagging vigorously the entire video. The unconditional love shown by animals is amazing.

Kiss your own pets for us and let’s work together to help put an end to animal cruelty!
