Eye on Annapolis, a blog written for the local community of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County (Maryland), recently published an article on choosing a pet insurance provider. The article was written by Marianne Bailey, a companion animal veterinarian at South Arundel Veterinary Hospital in Edgewater, Maryland.
I thought the steps she suggested pet owners take when choosing a pet insurance company made sense and wanted to share them with you.
1. Decide What You Want
Decide early what you expect out of your pet insurance company and look for one that meets those expectations.
2. Do Your Research
Compare policies side by side and research the different deductibles. Remember to research whether your insurance will cover nutritional supplements, prescription dog foods, or hereditary conditions.
3. Read Reviews
These are people who bought the insurance in good faith and are either very happy with their experience or are disappointed.
4. Start Early
To get the best benefit for you and your geriatric pet, start them with a pet insurance policy very young.
What are the steps you took when choosing your pet insurance provider?
