Tru Interview: Laura with Penny, Daphne, Mogli and Baloo

Our Tru Interview series continues with Laura, who shares her home with two dogs (Penny and Daphne) and two cats (Mogli and Baloo).

What is your background? How are you involved with pets?
My name is Laura Call and I work at Sno-King Veterinary Clinic in Lynnwood.

Do you have pets of your own? What are their stories?
I have two German Shepherds. Their names are Penny and Daphne. Penny is 3 and Daphne is 4. They’re big babies, but they’re my big babies. I also have two cats. Mogli and Baloo. They may be smaller, but they dominate the dogs!

What is your favorite dog breed and why? Cat breed?
I would have to say my favorite dog breed is the Irish Setter. We had a female named Angel growing up and she was hands down the best dog. As far as cats go I think Bengals are super cool. I’ve never owned one but I would love to. I love how big they are.

Do you tend to give your pets human names (i.e. Sophia, George) or pet names (i.e. Bandit, Shadow)?
Depends on the pet. My friends have a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix and his name is Wayne. It suits him 100%. All the pets I own have pet names though so I guess that answers the question.

If your dog/cat was a human, what do you think his/her profession would be?
O gosh, I think Penny and Daphne would work for border patrol, because they don’t let many pass through our gate. They were born and raised farm dogs. I think Mogli and Baloo would be professional hunters. We get presents all the time.

Who is your favorite TV/movie animal (i.e. Snoopy, the Geico gecko, Lady or the Tramp)?
I think my favorite TV/movie animal would have to be Hooch from “Turner and Hooch”. He was such a loyal little puppy.

A big thank you to Laura for sharing her story! If you are interested in participating in the Tru Interview Series, please email me at heather.kalinowski@trupanion.com.
