Chief the 3-year-old Border Collie may be in the running for one of the most expensive dogs!
Chief was just enjoying the summer with his owner and they went on a camping trip. After they returned home, the owners noticed that Chief was very lethargic. His condition gradually progressed from weakness in his hind end to complete paralysis of all four legs. Then, he stopped breathing. His owners rushed him to their local veterinary clinic where he was stabilized and later transferred to UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Veterinarians found that Chief had injured the spinal cord in his neck. Chief spent the next three and a half weeks at the hospital receiving care.
He was finally released to go home. Chief can move his legs but is still unable to walk and has begun rehabilitation therapy. We are told that he will likely gain back most of the function in all four legs which is great news!
