Beverly’s puppy Obi-Wan Kenobi is new to the Trupanion family. Unfortunately, Beverly experienced a difficult situation which led her to get pet insurance for the new puppy.
She shares her story in hopes of helping other pet owners.
In June of 2008, I brought into my home a precious Yorkshire Terrier we named C.J. He was six months old. C.J. was a feisty, happy little guy that I treasured.
Toward the end of 2011, C.J. became ill and over the next 10 days or so he deteriorated rapidly. Expensive testing revealed that he had protein-losing enteropathy. He needed immediate attention that the emergency vets advised would cost between $1,000 and $2,000 just to stabilize him, then more expenses to get him to the point where I could take him home and get him on a special diet.
C.J. was in distress and suffering. I had to make a decision.
If I had purchased insurance for C.J., that decision would have been easy. Instead, I had to make the horrible decision to put C.J. down. This Wednesday, Dec. 12, would have been C.J.’s birthday. He would have been 5 years old.
I was determined that I would never again have a dog that was not covered by insurance. I never want to have to make the decision I did for C.J.
I chose Trupanion because when I compared all the options, Trupanion was by far the best coverage for the best price.
Our condolences go out to Beverly and we thank her for sharing her story.
