Pet Insurance Claim of the Week: Ate Carrot Cake

cute goldendoodle dogFarley is a sweet 1-year-old Goldendoodle that gets to go to work with his owner. One day, a coworker at the office brought in a big fantastic carrot cake to share, but unknowingly set it a little too close to the edge of the counter.

Well, even though Farley isn’t known to counter surf, the smell of the cake may have reminded him of his carrot-flavored dental chews. Farley gave himself permission to eat the entire cake!

Farley had a bout of gastroenteritis and diarrhea so he was taken to the veterinary clinic. He received IV fluids, medications, and veterinarians induced vomiting to get as much of the cake out as they could. Farley is feeling much better since the incident!

We are so grateful to Trupanion and recommend it to everyone. I would never want money to be a consideration when it comes to Farley’s care.

Total claim amount: $548.00
Deductible applied: -$0.00
Ineligible costs: -$0.00
10% co-insurance: -$54.80
Trupanion repaid: $493.20

Thank you to Wendy for letting us share Farley’s story!

  1. Peggy says:

I don’t think I am interested. Skye is a low risk German Shepherd given her breeding. The amount I would pay monthly would exceed what I would have to pay in an emergency. And, we have owned dogs all our lives. There are no carrot cakes etc left near the edge of counter tops. In addition, our dogs are indoor and rarely out of our sight or supervision. Thanks though.
