The Pupkin Plunge: Dunking for Charity

What could be better than having the opportunity to dunk your boss in a pool of water? Or maybe that co-worker that has been teasing you lately? On Friday, September 13, we hosted a charity event here at the Trupanion office that allowed us to do just that.

For weeks prior, we encouraged employees to “bid” on colleagues they would like to see dunked. The top ten bids won the chance to dunk that colleague in a dunk tank. We had executives bidding on fellow executives, employees bidding on bosses, and it got competitive!

It was the first overcast, slightly chilly day, of course, when we set up the dunk tank. First up was our Vice President of Human Resources, Erich Wuhrman. From practically the first throw, Erich was in the freezing cold water and the crowd went wild!

The energy and fun continued throughout the rest of the day. All the dunkees were excellent sports, some even dressing up for the occasion.

By far the favorite dunkee was our own Founder and CEO Darryl Rawlings. He surprised us all by painting our Trupanion logo – what we call the ‘pupkin’ on his chest for the event. He was dunked several times, and all in extreme good fun.

The most important part of the day? The total amount raised was $1,509.66! This will be split between the Second Chance Fund and Old Dog Haven.
