Violetta and Musetta

Musetta is a 4-month-old Burmese kitten who loves to play with her Burmese sister Violetta in the curtains. The kitties’ owner Sandra noticed something wrong when Musetta became lethargic and refused to eat. At first, she was treated for a possible respiratory issue, but after returning home, Sandra knew that something was still not right. Musetta would move her neck and it appeared as though something could be stuck, so she returned to the vet, insisting on Xrays.

As it turned out, Musetta had a sewing needle and thread stuck in her throat! Sandra told us, “I had draperies made for my living room 3 years ago. Whomever made the drapes must have left a needle either in the hem or somehow attached to the curtains. I thought I had kitten-proofed my home. Who would think a needle would be left behind?”

After determining the cause, veterinarians were able to put Musetta under anesthesia and remove the needle.

Fortunately, Musetta is feeling much better and can go on to enjoy kittenhood! “Musetta is fine and is running nonstop including playing fetch. I was so grateful to have had Trupanion behind me as the vet bills were adding up.”

Ineligible costs (exam fee): -$15.00
10% co-insurance: -$59.08
