Shy and Hiding Pet Photos

Over the past week we ran a giveaway and collected your favorite ‘shy’ and ‘hiding’ pet photos. Because the weather is cooling off, pets are hunkering down in their beds and blankets to stay warm. We thought this would make a great photo theme for this week’s contest so we asked and you provided! Here are some of our favorite photos:

"This is my Indy who I've had for 3 years now... this photo is from the first night I had him ... I drove from Toronto to Indiana to get this awesome dog... painfully shy as you can tell... we spent the night in a hotel before the drive back to T.O. , he hid in the bathroom all night... sneaking his head around the corner about every 5 minutes to see if I was still there!" -Lorie S.

Many pets’ coats are not quite thick enough to leave them outdoors all winter long. It is important to bring them inside after potty and play so that they can stay warm and cozy, and spend time with their favorite human(s). If you are cold outside, then your pet likely is too.

If you have a newly-adopted dog that is shy, here are 10 tips to help bring shy dogs out of their shell. This article discusses key points in dealing with a shy dog including patience and confidence-building. With the right approach, it is entirely possible to help rid a dog of its shyness.

We’d like to thank everyone who sent in adorable pet photos this week! As with all of our themed photo giveaways, our winner will be randomly selected.

My dog, Bernie, looks almost exactly like Indy, pictured above. We adopted Bernie two months ago from a shelter in Elmsford, NY. He had been rescued from a shelter in Georgia sometime in August, a few weeks before we brought him home. We have not had the DNA test done to determine what kind of dog he is – we were told he is a wire haired terrier mix. I am curious if Lorie S. has had Indy tested and if so what were the results? In any case, love the photo. Good luck with your adorable dog.
