Laddie the 3-year-old black lab recently made an unplanned visit to the vet after he ate a slipper. His appointment included radiographs to take a peek at his insides. He also received an abdominal ultrasound. These diagnostic tests are necessary to determine if there are any particularly large pieces of slipper that cannot be digested and/or may cause blockage.
Fortunately, the diagnostic tests did not yield any major concerns, so surgery was not required. Laddie was kept overnight and put on fluids to monitor his well-being. We hope he is feeling better and that his taste for footwear was only temporary!
