“After having an English Bulldog for 7 years, spending tons of money on allergies, surgery to remove an ingested sock, and many other ailments I knew with the purchase on my next dog I would look into getting insurance.
Last year, I brought home two French Bulldogs, the first being a male named Salty and then a female named Harbor a few months later. When we went for their first checkup, my veterinarian recommend Trupanion.
I am so thankful that I signed up with Trupanion. Salty couldn’t keep any of his food down and it turned out he had an obstruction in his stomach that required surgery—pyloric stenosis. He was also diagnosed with IBD/colitis. Trupanion paid 90% of the surgery and pays us back any time Salty has problems associated with his illness.
When I adopted Harbor 4 months later, I signed her up with Trupanion immediately. With Harbor, we noticed she had a really hard time breathing. We took her to the beach one time, and after she ran around a bit, she actually collapsed due to lack of oxygen in her brain.
Since she is a brachycephalic breed, I did some research on the airway surgery that was needed to correct her breathing. I called Trupanion to see if they would cover the surgery, and all I had to do was get a pre-authorization form from the veterinarian with an estimate. The surgery was very successful and again Trupanion paid 90% of the surgery. Harbor also has a luxating patella. If she needs surgery in the future, I know Trupanion will be there to reimburse me.
I am thankful that I can afford to have French Bulldogs with all the health problems associated with them. Thanks to Trupanion for making it possible.”
