As summer winds down we dream of vacation and wish to jet-set off to one last getaway. It is always wonderful to know of fun places where you can take your pets on retreat. The escape vibe is real – so grab your suitcase, pack the doggy bags because we’re going on a vacay. We love traveling with our furry companions so check out our Top 10 Recommended Pet-Friendly vacation spots.

Top 10 Pet-friendly Vacation Destinations

Austin, Texas:

Austin is filled with fun, food, and festivals.  This artsy town has over 16 dog parks, (Red Bud Isle is completely surrounded by water) that range from off-leash to full-on trails. Also, there are over 400+ pet-friendly dining establishments in Austin ranging from beer garden to food truck. Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden, as well as Yard Bar, are big hits with the pooches. Certainly, any dining establishment that has their own dog menu is worth checking out.

Atlanta, Georgia:

Atlanta is a great city for fun pet-friendly events, grabbing a bite to eat, and staying in some posh accommodations. According to www.exploregeorgia.com, Bellwoods Social House is American cuisine with a very special ‘dog bar’ where your pet can hang out. Also, Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall has a unique outdoor dining and entertainment space for you and your dog. There are over 200 pet-friendly hotels available to stay in Atlanta. The hotel indigo chain is a popular hot spot for pups, where they are treated to presents upon check-in, while the Four Seasons and Loews are luxurious high-rise spaces.

Washington D.C:

Washington D.C. is packed with history and outdoor adventures. Check out the National Mall, US National Arboretum, and the Key Bridge Boathouse with your pups. While you are enjoying the (NPS) National Mall & US National Arboretum pups must be on a leash. Pets are not allowed at monuments themselves unless they are held. Likewise, a speedy option for viewing monuments, Nonpartisan pedicab, allows you to take pets on the pedicab and if you choose to go to monuments they will watch your dog for you. Seems like a great option to see the sights with your beloved best friend.

Boston, Massachusetts:

Boston, Massachusetts has a wide variety of dining, stay, and play options. This city is rich with history and greenery as you can take your dog to one of the many pet-friendly spaces. Similarly, Boston has over 25 pet-friendly spaces ranging from dog parks, beaches, trails, commons and public gardens. Boston Public Garden, Pete’s Park, and The Esplanade are some hot spots for your pup to play. Also, the freedom trail is pet-friendly, but the dog must be on a leash.

New York, New York:

Similarly, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is a fantastic place to take your dog hiking. Always make sure to adhere to conservation area regulations and keep the pet on a leash at all times. San Diego, California:

Sunny San Diego is calling our name for a vacay. This sunny city has over 500 pet-friendly restaurants and hotels to enjoy and many diverse events. While the weather is lovely to take the opportunity to check out an Art festival, walk for a cause, or attend the doggie street festival.

San Francisco, California:

This destination will be a San Francisco treat for your furry best friend! This pet-friendly city has over 150+ pet-friendly hotels and over 70 fun spaces to play.
