What is covered?
All new injuries and illnesses are eligible for coverage. We do not exclude any conditions or breed-specific ailments. We even cover hereditary and congenital conditions, as long as symptoms weren't present before your coverage started.
For eligible conditions, coverage includes:
- Diagnostic tests
- Hospital stays
- Veterinary supplements
- Prosthetic devices
Coverage is applicable to new injuries or illnesses that occur after waiting periods pass. Waiting periods are 5 days for injuries and 30 days for illnesses.
Which veterinarian should you visit?
You can visit any veterinarian throughout the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico, including emergency hospitals and specialty veterinarians. Coverage applies just the same!
What is not covered?
- Exam fees
- Any applicable taxes
- Wellness and preventive care (including flea treatments, dental cleanings, and vaccinations)
- Pre-existing conditions:
- Illnesses or injuries for which signs or evidence of their potential manifestation existed within the 18 months prior to the policy enrollment date.
- Illnesses or injuries masked or controlled by treatment or medication at any time during the 18 months prior to the policy enrollment date.
We encourage you to read through your dog insurance policy (or check out our sample policy) to make sure that you understand what is and isn't covered.
