Trying to learn more about Trupanion? Stella can help! Below, Stella answers a few common pet insurance questions in her own words.

What do you cover?

If your pet should ever have any accidents or illnesses, that's what we're here for; we're solely accident and illness coverage. So we're here for things like hereditary conditions, we're also here for things like congenital conditions, diagnostic testing: things like X-rays, ultrasounds, blood work, allergy scratch test; all those things that fall under the diagnostic umbrella. We're also here for things like surgery if she ever ingested a foreign object or needed knee surgery. Medications, hospital stays, as well as any supplements the vet recommends for an accident or illness.

Do I have to pay my deductible annually?

Our deductible is actually per-incident/per-condition, but for the lifetime of your pet, meaning if something is chronic or recurring, you don't have to keep meeting your deductible. Once you've met it, you've met it for the lifetime of your pet.
We also have no payout limits, so if there ever was a chronic or recurring illness, there is no limit on the cost of care.

Can I change my deductible at any time?

Absolutely, you can change your deductible at any time, you are not penalized. The one thing is if you lower your deductible, there is a waiting period before the new deductible would begin. If you raise your deductible, it just takes effect on your next billing cycle.

"The staff at Coral Springs Medical Center combined with the coverage, efficiency, and compassion of Trupanion made Cupcake’s recovery possible. The charges for his hospital stay and continuing medical care are astronomical, there is no way I could have afforded to give him the care he needed to save his life if he was not a Trupanion kitty."
