Tric Answers Your Pet Insurance Questions

Tric is great at explaining our pet insurance coverage and wants to make sure you get all your questions answered. Below are some common pet insurance questions with answers directly from Tric.

What do you cover?

We cover all the things that you don't expect to have happen that can. We cover every illness, every injury, and accident. So if your pet got sick or hurt at all in any way, we're going to cover that at 90%1 for any diagnostic testing and treatment. So everything from diarrhea, vomiting, ear infections, bladder infections, allergies, asthma; we also cover foreign body ingestions. We cover any hereditary or congenital conditions; anything your pet may be prone to, we cover. We also cover all the prescribed medications, so any medications the doctor would prescribe, we'd cover. And any diagnostic testing the vet would need to do if there's an injury or illness. So X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, cat scans. The only things that we don't cover are just the routine things: the routine wellness and the preventative. So the vaccinations, spay and neuter, the dental cleaning and the flea and tick and heartworm preventative medication, and the annual exam.

Do you cover dental care?

We do cover teeth extractions so as long as you are doing the teeth cleaning every year or whatever the doctor advises you to do to keep away things like broken teeth, plaque buildup, infected gums, things like that, we'll cover the treatment for that.
Our only exclusion is anything pre-existing.

What are my deductible options?

You can choose whatever you wish for deductibles. The deductible is going to be what you would cover first, before the insurance kicks in. You can choose to have no deductible, which would mean you would never have to meet the deductible, or you can choose any deductible between $50 and up to $1000 or anything in between. Choosing no deductible is a great way to go if the premium works for you. (It does put your premium at the highest it could go.)
It is flexible, so you're not ever locked in to the same deductible so you can change it. When you change your deductible, the new deductible is effective at the next billing date.

I saw that you have a setup fee, can you tell me about that?

It's a one-time setup fee that gets you set up into automatic payments each month. Your pet will also receive a little tag that has our name and number and his own tag number on it, so if he ever got lost and somebody found him they could just call us any time, day or night. We'd ask for the tag number, punch it into the computer, pull up your name and call you immediately. So yeah, it's pretty cool, and they're really cute! (That's really important. ;) )
You'll never be charged that again, it's just a one-time fee, so if you ever enrolled any other pets, you'll never have that fee again.
