Thanks Kathryn for the info and if I take my Pom to any water area I’ll be sure to watch her very close and buy her a life jacket if they have her size (toy size). Where do you buy them?

You can get a life jacket at most pet supply stores in your area or pet suppliers online. Depending on how small your pom is, you may be able to try a jacket on in-store to find the right size! If she’s very small and they don’t have her size in stock, you may need to order one.
Love this info graph about dog safety now it looks like they starting to enforce in some states that you have pet seat belts in your car.
I would also include the risk of water toxicity or dry drowning as it is getting more common and is not something every dog owner knows but should be aware of. I unfortunately witnessed this first hand at the lake last week and the owners lost their dog right there on the beach. Very sad, and preventable. Definitely worth researching.
