How to prepare your pet for Hurricane Irma
Pets can stay with family or friends outside of the area. Your family may also want to research pet-friendly hotels in safe areas. As a last resort, the following shelters in Florida are pet-friendly. Find a full list of dog and cat-friendly shelters in Florida below.
Pets need to be licensed prior to arrival, up to date on vaccinations, and in a kennel or crate. You should also bring food and medication for your pet. You can learn more about licensing and registering your pets online for Miami-Dade county, Broward county, and Palm Beach county.
BluePearl’s veterinary hospitals in Tampa, Clearwater, Brandon and Sarasota plan to stay open 24 hours each day to aid injured or ill pets.
Refugios de mascotas en Puerto Rico: Se admiten mascotas en todos los refugios, pero sólo como último recurso. Los animales deben estar en sus jaulas, vacunados y con alimentos. Para ver una lista de refugios, haga clic aquí.
