Calling all veterinarians and veterinary staff – has your sense of right been wronged?
Here at Trupanion, veterinarians and veterinary staff are very important to us. They are our friends, colleagues, classmates, and caretakers of our beloved pets. Sadly, we are seeing disturbing trends related to veterinary burnout, compassion fatigue, ethics exhaustion, decreased career satisfaction, and suicide within the profession.
In the third in a series of free RACE-approved CE webinars, we have partnered with Dr. Sonnya Dennis to help educate veterinarians, students, techs and anyone who surrounds them about the challenges and opportunities faced by those drawn to be part of the most compassionate and trusted profession in the world. Dr. Dennis will discuss the concept of ethics exhaustion – the feeling of being too exhausted to continue to do what you feel is right. She will offer examples of ethical dilemmas in veterinary medicine and ways to help resolve and prevent it in your career.
Dr. Sonnya Dennis received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Since 1996 she has been the owner and full-time veterinarian at Stratham-Newfields Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Dennis is Board-Certified in Canine and Feline Practice with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and is Chair of the AAHA Veterinary Informatics Committee & Diagnostic Terms Editorial Board. She is on the AAFP Hyperthyroid Guidelines Panel, President of the Association for Veterinary Informatics, and a Member of the New Hampshire State Board of Veterinary Medicine.
