My name is Sachi. I am a five-year-old female Shiba Inu from Nebraska. My owner got me on September 20th, 2013. In September of 2017, my eye started to bother me so my owner took me to our veterinarian. He diagnosed me with a cataract issue in my left eye and referred me to an animal eye specialist. The diagnosis was not good. I was effectively blind in my left eye and the right eye was not far behind. My nice brown eyes were turning white. Aggressive cataract genetic eye disorder and partial retinal detachment were the diagnoses.
I would be totally blind in less than four months. At the time I was only a 4-year-old pup, and going blind was devastating to me because I had so many more balls to catch, cats to chase, and walks to go on. Fortunately, my owner had previously bought our family pet health insurance from Trupanion. Trupanion was recommended by my primary veterinarian as the one to go with. This was a good decision by my owner because, without Trupanion, my owner would not have been able to afford the medical care I so desperately needed.
Trupanion covered the lion’s share of the surgery, follow up visits with testing and the many pharmaceuticals that were necessary to restore my eyesight. The people at Trupanion really cared about helping me. Every person my owner dealt with was not only concerned for my well-being but compassionate and very helpful in making sure I got the care I needed. Without this coverage, I would be blind today and for the final years of my life. Thank you, for restoring my quality of life.
