Tyson: Thankful that We Chose Trupanion

Tyson and his story with Trupanion

Read on to learn why Tyson’s owners are thankful for Trupanion

We decided to insure Tyson at the age of eight years. In doing so, we were pleasantly surprised at the affordable monthly cost of the policy we chose, especially enrolling him later in life. Little did we know, it’s the reason we still have our boy with us today.

In October of 2018, we noticed Tyson came up lame in his left hind leg. Being in the veterinary field myself, I had a gut feeling of what was going on, especially since he is considered a giant breed dog. X-rays showed bone cancer in the lower leg. Had we not had Trupanion, we wouldn’t have been able to afford the CT scan that showed his chest was clear of metastasis, or the further x-rays that showed his other joints were healthy enough to handle an amputation.

Trupanion took the worry out of having to make decisions on what the best course of treatment would be.

Six months later, our boy is thriving after courageously recovering from a left hind leg amputation.  We even hit a bump on the road with an acute kidney failure following surgery where he was hospitalized for 5 days.  After recovering from that, he finished 6 rounds of chemo which he handled like a champ.

No one can ever plan for these things that happen to our beloved pets.

Having Trupanion allowed us to not have to worry about the cost of treatment, or having to make a decision that we all dread. Submitting our claims was extremely easy as well, especially through Trupanion Express.

We are so incredibly thankful that we chose to insure our boy with Trupanion. It has truly been a blessing and we are forever grateful to still have our boy with us.
