I have an amazing Black Lab mix dog named Shadow. He wandered into my life in July 2011 when he
was running loose in downtown Denver. I took him home and we started our journey
In July of 2015, I had to rush Shadow to the ER and he ended
up having a torsed right lung lobe and had to have major surgery to remove the lobe.
This cost me over $7,000!
After this emotional and expensive experience, I decided to
get Trupanion insurance.
I was so thankful that I did this, because not even a year later, in March of 2016, I rushed to the ER and Shadow had a torsed left lung lobe. He had another major lung surgery costing over $7,000 again.
Trupanion was amazing and approved my claim, and I was reimbursed 90% of the costs of the surgery. This claim had already covered above and beyond what I am paying monthly for the insurance.
In October of 2019, I had to rush Shadow to the ER once again, and they removed a lot of fluid off his lungs. After many tests, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer. I decided to go for the best treatment and do 19 weeks of chemotherapy, knowing Trupanion insurance would help out. Shadow just had his last treatment, he is in remission and doing great!
Trupanion has covered over $14,000 to date. I can’t thank them enough for being so prompt
with claims and making it an easy process, but more importantly giving me more
time with my love, Shadow!
Date enrolled: August 2015
Conditions: Lung lobe torsion, Lymphoma Cancer
The Trupanion policy paid: $14,273.06
