Here at Trupanion, we work hard so the dogs and cats can get the medical care they need. 2020 was a year like no other. While we learned to pivot and embrace change, it wouldn’t have been possible without the love of pets and the essential workers of the veterinary community. These unsung heroes on the frontlines in the hospitals, clinics, and animal shelters never stopped being there for your furry friends. From 20 years of business to more than $1 billion paid in claims, read on to learn more about our Trupanion Year-in-Review 2020.
Trupanion Year-in-Review 2020
2020 was unexpected
This was a year of firsts for many. For us, this meant transitioning our entire home office to work from home.
For some, it meant getting their first pet, a new puppy or kitten, or adding to their existing pack.
From the DIY pet projects and puppy cuddles, your pets became a part of our family. So, when you needed us, we were there. We adapted to make sure our mission wasn’t interrupted.
Fortunately, it’s how we helped hundreds of thousands of pet owners throughout the USA, Canada, and Australia get medical care when they need it.
Our veterinary heroes
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the essential workers of the veterinary community were there to care for your pets from the curbside door to the exam room, and beyond. They worked days, nights, and long hours to make sure someone was there to help your pet. Further, thank you for your love, devotion, and hard work so our beloved pets could get medical care.
Driven to help pets
It’s the spirit that helped us improve the lives of our members and their pets. We love cats and dogs and it’s why we do what we do every day. While this year was unexpected, it never stopped us from helping those furry friends who need it most.
Consider the following:
We added over 150,000 pets under our protection.
80,000 of which were new puppies and kittens in their new homes.
Paid over $50 million directly to our veterinarians, just so our member’s don’t have to wait for a check, within 24 hours of a visit
20 years in business and we’ve paid over $1 billion in claims.
Unique pet names, pet breeds, pet claims, and our members
Our members are names, not numbers.
From the “unluckiest dog” with the $40,000 claim or our “unluckiest” cat with the $20,000 claim, we’re proud to say that we paid it so they could get the care they needed.
Whether you brought home a dog or cat named Bella, Labrador Retriever, or American Shorthair cat, those were just some of the most popular picks from our members.
Also, there were some rather unique names in 2020, like Corona, Rona, and Fauci. Just to name a few. 2020 presented some unique pet claims like masks, latex gloves, and hand sanitizer ingestion. And yes, those were covered too.
20th anniversary of helping cats and dogs
2020 was our 20th year helping pets. We’re proud and happy to say that after 20 years were still here 24/7 for our members when they need us. We’ll always be there to answer your call, email, or just to chat about your best friend.
