How does it work?

The Breeder Support Program is simple. This program allows you to send your puppies/kittens home with Trupanion certificates to help give them a happy, healthy start in their new home. All you need to do is print out a copy of your certificate and send it home with the new owner. From there, it is up to them to call or go online within 24 hours to activate. 

How much does it cost for me to join?

There is no cost to join the Breeder Support Program, all you need to do is answer a few quick questions.

How much does coverage cost per month?

The monthly premium varies based on age, gender, breed, and location. If you or the new owner would like to get a better idea of what their monthly premium would be, try out the quote tool on our homepage or call us at 888.615.8318.

What do I get for participating?

As a thank you, you'll receive Trupanion goodies and exclusive benefits.

Can I activate the certificates myself?

No. The new pet owner needs to activate the certificate. They can do so by calling or going online within 24 hours of taking their pet home.

How old does a pet need to be to activate a certificate?

The Trupanion policy allows you to enroll your pet anytime from birth until their 14th birthday, for lifelong coverage. And enrolling your pet when they are young and healthy helps ensure you receive the best value from your Trupanion policy.

Can I use this for puppies/kittens that I’ve already sent home?

Unfortunately not. You can only provide certificates with pets as they're leaving your home — not after they already left.

Are hereditary and congenital conditions covered? What about spay/neuter?

We cover any accident or illness, including hereditary and congenital diseases, as long as they are not pre-existing. We define pre-existing as showing symptoms or signs, or being diagnosed, before they enrolled in the policy. We do not cover routine and wellness care, such as spay/neuter. I’m interested in signing up my own pets. Is there a discount for multiple pets?

We are unable to offer a discount for enrolling multiple pets.

I have a friend who’s interested in applying. How do I refer them?

All you need to do is have them list your name as the answer to the question "How did you hear about us?" when they're signing up for our program. You can also send us their contact information if you would prefer that we reach out to them. Please be sure to get their permission before giving out their contact information.

Do I need to register my litter with you?

You do not have to register your litter with us. All you need to do is print out your certificate and give it to the new owner. From there, it is up to them to call or go online to activate it within 24 hours.
