Unidentified Issues
Even if your pet doesn't have an official diagnosis, we'll cover you. Examples:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Cough
- Change in weight
Congenital Conditions
We'll cover latent conditions your pet has developed before birth. Examples:
- Heart disease
- Nervous system issues
- Cataracts
- Liver disease
Unexpected injuries and illnesses
Trupanion provides one simple plan that covers 90% of eligible expenses related to unexpected illnesses and injuries for the life of your furry friend. This includes hospital stays, diagnostic tests, medications, surgeries, and other treatments that arise when your pet is sick or hurt.
Diagnostic tests
Any diagnostic tests tests related to your pet's unexpected illness or injury is covered by the Trupanion plan.
Hospital stays & surgeries
The Trupanion plan covers surgical procedures and time in the hospital arising from your pet's unexpected illlness or injury.
Medications
Any medications prescribed by your veterinarian to treat your pet's unexpected illness or injury are covered by the Trupanion plan.
Veterinary supplements & herbal therapy
Prescribed or recommended supplements purchased through your veterinarian are covered if they are used for the treatment of eligible illnesses or injuries.
Pre-existing conditions
All pre-existing illnesses, injuries, and conditions are excluded from coverage.
Wellness care
Wellness and preventive care (parasite control, spay/neuter, vaccinations) are not covered under the Trupanion plan.
Exam fees
Wellness and annual exam visits are not included in the Trupanion plan.
