How can I get a Trupanion offer?
You can get an offer from:
- Your veterinarian, when your pet gets an exam
- Your shelter, when you adopt your new family member
- Your breeder, when you pick up your puppy or kitten
Offers help you start out on the right paw by waiving waiting periods (5 days until injury coverage, 30 days until illness coverage).Even if you don’t have an offer, it’s important to start your coverage right away. The sooner you enroll, the less likely your pet is to have pre-existing conditions.
Offers and Certificates FAQs
We created our Offers program so you can experience for yourself the benefits of medical insurance for pets. Want the lowdown on offers and certificates? We answered some of the most frequently asked questions.
Is my pet eligible?
All cats and dogs under 14 years of age are eligible to enroll for lifelong coverage. To use an offer or certificate from a veterinarian, you just need to activate coverage within 24 hours of receiving your offer.
Can I activate coverage at any time?
No, offers and certificates must be activated within a specific window of time. Please reference your offer or give us a call to learn more about this time frame.
What is covered?
Offers and certificates provide the benefits of the industry-leading Trupanion policy - 90% coverage for the cost to treat new injuries and illnesses, including hereditary and congenital treatments, with no payout limits. That means that you're covered for all of this and more for eligible conditions.
- Diagnostic tests
- Hospital stays
- And much more
What is not covered?
We never want to surprise you with any hidden exclusions or limits. The Trupanion policy does not cover:
- Routine preventative care
- Exam fees
- Sales tax (where applicable)
- Pre-existing conditions
What are pre-existing conditions?
Pre-existing conditions are conditions that show symptoms before coverage begins. A Trupanion policy covers all new injuries and illnesses. But like all pet insurance policies, it doesn't cover pre-existing conditions.
