Updates to your coverage

What's different about my coverage?

Our mission is to help the pets we all love receive the best veterinary care possible, and sometimes that means we need to update our coverage. You'll find minor wording changes throughout your booklet that help provide clarity to your coverage. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the details. To get you started, you’ll find some of the most important updates below. Or you can dive right in to the full policy.

What should I know about my deductible?

Your deductible is applied per-condition for the lifetime of your pet. And it’s customizable to help you choose a monthly cost to fit your budget from the start.

You have the ability to decrease your deductible within the first month of enrolling a new pet, or within 30 days of your policy update.

You have the ability to increase your deductible and lower your monthly cost at any time.

Which deductible should I choose?
With a lower deductible, the amount you are responsible for before your 90% coverage kicks in is smaller. And, depending on your budget, a lower deductible can make unexpected medical expenses for your pet easier to manage.

Since you can only decrease your deductible within the first month of enrolling a pet or within 30 days of your policy update, we recommend considering a lower deductible. You can increase it at any time if your budget changes.

If you’re simply looking for coverage for the bigger expenses, a higher deductible may be the right choice for you.

What should I know about my monthly cost?

We review your monthly cost throughout the year to make sure your coverage is priced fairly and is keeping up with changes in the cost and use of veterinary treatments in your area. If your monthly cost changes, it is still guaranteed to stay the same for at least 12 months.

What should I know about the Recovery and Complementary Care Rider and Breeding Rider?

We want you to be able to choose coverage that fits your lifestyle, which is why we offer optional packages that complement your policy. These are available at an additional cost.

You can add the Recovery and Complementary Care Rider and/or Breeding Rider within the first month of enrolling a pet or within 30 days of your policy update. You can remove these riders from your policy at any time.

The Pet Owner Assistance Package can be added or removed from your coverage at any time.

What does the Recovery and Complementary Care Rider cover?

For an additional cost, we offer coverage for veterinarian-recommended treatments, including:

  • Rehabilitative therapy
  • Acupuncture
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Chiropractic treatment
  • Behavioral modification
  • Homeopathy
  • Naturopathy

If you think you may want to have coverage for these treatments in the future, we encourage you to consider adding this rider to your policy. You can only add this rider within the first month of enrolling a pet or within 30 days of your policy update. If you decide you no longer want the extra coverage, you can remove it at any time.

What does the Breeding Rider cover?
For an additional cost, we offer coverage for illnesses and injuries related to breeding, whelping, and queening in our Breeding Rider.

If you are a breeder, we encourage you to consider adding this rider to your policy since you can only add it within the first month of enrolling a pet or within 30 days of your policy update. You can remove it at any time if you decide the rider is no longer needed.

In what countries is my coverage available?

Your coverage is available at any veterinarian, specialty center, or emergency hospital in Canada, the United States, Puerto Rico and now Australia!

What could I do now?

You can review your current deductible, riders, monthly cost, and current policy documents in your online account. Your updated policy documents will be available soon.
