Most pets show signs of dental disease by age 3, but many pet insurance companies don't provide dental coverage. Why, you may ask? Because treatment is expensive! Thankfully, we're not like those other guys.
What's covered
Comprehensive dental coverage for new, unexpected dental illnesses and injuries, including:

Extractions of permanent and baby (deciduous) teeth

Coverage for retained baby teeth (if your pet is enrolled by 6 months old)

Advanced dentistry, including caps (crowns)

Endodontic treatments, including root canals

Fractured jaw and/or fractured tooth repair

Tooth resorption and tooth root abscesses

Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion doesn't cover pre-existing conditions.

Healthy Paws
No dental coverage, except for extraction or reconstruction of teeth damaged in an accident.
Fetch
If there are any signs of dental disease prior to enrolling, any new, unrelated dental issues are considered pre-existing and not covered.
What's not covered
We're here for things you can't budget for, like a broken tooth or an abscess. Like other providers, we don't cover teeth cleanings or any associated fees (such as anesthesia or blood work). Teeth cleanings are considered preventive care, which isn't what pet insurance is for.
